Family Learning

Family Days are designed to help kids and grown-ups explore the Museum’s exhibits together. They feature hands-on gallery activities and art-making for the whole family. Family Days happen on selected Saturdays from 10am until noon and they are FREE.  Our next Family Day is August 26!

September 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 10:30am until noon
Bring your littlest artist for some hands-on fun! Each week, you and your child can make your mark using a variety of tools and materials in an exploratory open-studio setting. Drop in once or come every week! These sessions are designed for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver.  Register here.

Explore our exhibits in these free, one-session workshops led by teaching artists and designed to help grown-ups and kids enjoy art together!  Families will get inspired in the galleries and then create their own artwork in the classroom studios. Most appropriate for kids ages 5-10, accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required.

Located in the Museum's Education Wing, the Family Art Lab and Book Nook are interactive spaces where children can explore art on their own terms—by touching, building and pretending. Full of blocks, magnatiles, books, art games and more, the Family Art Lab can provide a break during a Museum visit or be a destination in itself. The Book Nook is a quiet space where kids can peruse our fantastic collection of children’s art books. We invite families to be creative together in these spaces designed just for them!
